The enCRYPTON consortium organized a summer school for early stage researchers to learn not only the theoretical foundations of lattice-based homomorphic encryption (HE) but also its applications in machine learning. The implementation challenges of HE will be covered in the summer school by internationally renowned scientists. In the last day of the summer school, the students worked on an HE library to develop privacy-preserving applications. The participants are 34 students and early stage researchers from nine different countries, four continents and 19 universities. Within Türkiye, the students from universities in eight different cities participated in the summer school. While 35% of the participants are female, almost one third of the participants are from institutes outside of Türkiye. There was participation also from industry and research centers in Türkiye and in the world. The lectures were held physically on campus, which was streamed online via zoom.
We thank our partners for their continued support: Ingrid Verbauwhede (COSIC, KU Leuven), Elisabeth Oswald (Universität Klagenfurt), Amir Moradi (Ruhr-Universität Bochum), and Dimitar Jetchev (Inpher). Without them, the summer school could not have been as successful as it was now.
We also thank our instructors for their excellent lectures and contributions to the success of the summer school: Ahmad Al Badawi (Duality Technologies), Ahmet Can Mert (IAIK TU Graz), Arsalan Javeed (Sabancı University), Benedict Gierlichs (COSIC, KU Leuven), Ceren Yıldırım (Sabancı University), Dimitar Jetchev (Inpher), Erchan Aptoula (Sabancı University), Erkay Savaş (Sabancı University), Ferruh Özbudak (Sabancı University), Tolun Tosun (Sabancı University & Analog Devices), Yücel Saygın (Sabancı University), and Wouter Castryck (COSIC, KU Leuven).
The enCRYPTON Project received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No: 101079319.
