enCRYPTON Open Day

On August 18, 2025, we successfully hosted the enCRYPTON Open Day at Sabancı University UC!

Kamer Kaya opened the day with “Proofs That Don’t Tell All”, an engaging introduction to zero-knowledge proofs. Using puzzles and everyday analogies, he showed how it’s possible to prove something is true without revealing the underlying secret.

We were delighted to share recorded contributions from our partner Elisabeth Oswald (University of Klagenfurt), who explained in simple terms why encryption is vital in our daily lives, and reflected on her personal journey into cryptography—driven by both mathematical challenges and real-world impact.

Ceren Yıldırım, on behalf of Erkay Savas, presented “Magical World of Cryptography: How Computers Can Run ChatGPT over Encrypted Data”. Her talk introduced participants to the fascinating world of privacy-preserving AI, showing how advanced models can be powered by encrypted data—without ever decrypting it.

Tolun Tosun delivered a live side-channel attack demo on CRYSTALS-Dilithium using the ChipWhisperer-Husky platform.

Kadriye Kahraman and Tugce Akkas Moradi presented the enCRYPTON project video, sharing insights into our work and goals.

Visitors joined demos, explored our stand, engaged in discussions, and took home fun give-aways.

Huge thanks to our PURE- Program for Undergraduate Research organizers, speakers, partners, and attendees for making this day a success!
